NEWS: Ebenezer Scrooge’s day at Marjon!

On 6 November Barbican Theatre and Le Navet Bete headed to the Plymouth Marjon University campus to meet the platinum sponsors of our forthcoming production of A Christmas Carol.

In true Le Navet Bete spirit Al, Dan, Matt and Nick introduced the staff and students at Marjon to their inimitable style of comedy. Once in character Nick Bunt’s Ebenezer Scrooge spread his joyful ‘bah humbugs’ across the campus visiting the teams in the Actor’s Wheel, Primary Education Centre, the Sports Centre and Sports Therapy and Rehab Clinic. He even met Professor Robert Warner, Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth Marjon University, and dared give him some financial advice!

Rachel Cox, Marketing Officer at Plymouth Marjon University tells us

“It was great to meet Le Navet Bete who certainly livened things up first thing on a Monday morning! Wherever they went on campus there were hoots of laughter – especially when Scrooge decided to see for himself what studying at Marjon is like. Plus there’s nothing like seeing a grumpy old miser in a top hat and overcoat tackle the treadmill! We’re so excited to be supporting this wonderful production and can’t wait to see the show at the Athenaeum this Christmas”

A Christmas Carol will be Barbican Theatre and Le Navet Bete’s biggest and most spectacular Christmas co-production to date, with 32 performances at Plymouth’s much loved Plymouth Athenaeum from 14 December to 7 January (including matinee and evening performances). This follows the hugely successful 10 performance run of Le Navet Bete’s Dracula: The Bloody Truth at the theatre earlier this year; the first theatrical performance on it’s stage since it was mothballed in 2009. A Christmas Carol will be an hilarious and unique version of the greatest Christmas ghost story ever told. A festive physical comedy treat for the whole family featuring all the much loved Dickensian characters plus a few extra for good measure – it is Christmas after all!
