Pre-show information for audiences of Put On your Red Shows at The Plymouth Athenaeum 15 & 16 February 2019
You are very welcome to come dressed for the occasion (but it’s not mandatory)….
Red Carnations: Simply wear a flower in your hair, buttonhole or hat. By all means, dress for the tea dance! (as a reminder this audeince group isn’t suitable for those in wheelchairs)
Red Stilettos: Of course we don’t expect you all to bring red heels but perhaps you may wear a slick of red lipstick, a glittery, glamorous something, a flamboyantly brilliant item. (as a reminder this audience group isn’t suitable for those unsteady on their feet, in a wheelchair or with pushchairs)
Red Threads: Bring a glamorous item, your dancing shoes, or a flash of red such as a tie or scarf (as a reminder this is our most accessible group and is suitable for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs)
No need to panic, your dancing shoes are metaphorical…
You’re not expected to dance or perform alongside us in the show but there will most certainly be times to clap, stamp your feet, nod, shimmy and walk a promenade route around the theatre.
So make sure your shoes are comfy enough to take you on a guided tour in the first act.
A party wouldn’t be a party, without refreshments…
The lower bar and the box office at The Plymouth Athenaeum will be open from 6: 30pm. There will be refreshments available during the interval and you can cross into other words such as the latin lounge and the tea dance. These refreshments are not included in your ticket price. We advise you arrive around 7pm – 7:15pm at the very latest
Please don’t be fashionably late…
Act 1 is a promenade performance, which means you will journey as a Red Carnation / Red Stiletto / Red Thread, led by ushers and characters. We will start sharpish at 7.30pm, so please make sure you arrive with plenty of time to get to your starting point (you’ll be directed to where you go by ushers in the main entrance)
- Red Carnations meet in the theatre stalls
- Red Stilettos meet in the theatre balcony
- Red Threads meet in the lower bar
After an interval Act 2 takes place in the theatre auditorium where you’ll take your seats (as stated on your ticket) to see our incredible performers from Act 1 (and more) meet on stage to entertain you with an eclectic dance theatre performance like no other you’ve experienced before.
