I am a chartered Chemical Engineer and retired as a Nuclear Regulator in 2006. I have been involved in an honorary capacity with helping to organise musical and dance events for many years. These include many musical concerts at Flete House between 1999 and 2003, to raise funds for charity. I am also a member of the organising committee of the annual dance show Integration Through Culture – Dance Dance Dance, which is supported by Plymouth University and Plymouth City Council and I am an Administrator for my ‘daughter’ Natasha’s Bollywood Dance School as well as the PR Officer for the Dae School of Dance.
I have been involved with the Barbican Theatre for a number of years when I served on the Steering Committee and Performing Committee of the hugely successful Plymouth Mela in 2010 and 2012 and this major event could not have taken place without the significant input from the Barbican Theatre.
I was pleased to be invited to serve as a Trustee on the Board of the Barbican Theatre. The Theatre has built a reputation for encouraging young and emerging artists from all backgrounds and this will be of great benefit to the City of Plymouth and surrounding areas. As a Board member I fully support the aims of the Theatre in these difficult economic times and will endeavour to help with all its innovative work. I believe the Barbican Theatre is an essential part of the cultural expertise within the Plymouth Area.
