Many of the young people we work with go on to train at some of the best drama schools and universities in the country.
This cutting edge company is an integral part of our engine room for creating and producing new theatre. COMPANY b Theatre members train, make and deliver high quality dance and theatre performance work in a professional environment with professional artists.
In 2015-16 COMPANY b Theatre have continued their incredible work engaging with social issues and training their skills in performance. Following initial auditions with a staggering 70+ young people, the 2015-16 group have worked together to devise and rehearse their main summer show, Attempts on Her Life, by Martin Crimp. During their training, COMPANY b Theatre have also been fortunate in attending resident company workshops with Curtis Productions (The Bogus Woman) and Mars.tarrab (The Lady’s Not For Walking Like An Egyptian), prior to their performances.
With a wide range of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds – including professionally trained actors working alongside secondary school students – COMPANY b Theatre has provided brilliant opportunities to its members, including outside of the weekly training sessions. This has led many of the company to perform in events such as Plymouth Fringe Festival 2016, Theatre Royal Plymouth productions, Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery shows, and as part of their own independent theatre companies – in addition to many auditioning for Barbican Theatre’s summer production of Romeo & Juliet.”
