About the role
We are looking for a Finance & Administration Manager to play a vital role in supporting the stability and sustainability of the organisation during an important period of change.
This is a hands-on, practical role focused on keeping the day-to-day finances and core administration of the charity running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the team to make sure systems are clear, records are accurate, and reliable financial information is available to support good decision-making.
This is not a senior leadership or strategic role. It’s about being organised, dependable and people-focused, and helping create the conditions in which creative work can thrive.
What you’ll be doing
Managing day-to-day finance processes including invoices, payments, expenses and petty cash
Running payroll and pensions administration
Keeping the accounting system accurate and up to date
Preparing monthly finance reports and cashflow updates
Tracking budgets and restricted funding and flagging issues early
Preparing financial information for funder reports, audits and year-end accounts
Submitting VAT returns and meeting statutory deadlines
Supporting board administration and maintaining key compliance records
Being a friendly, approachable point of contact for finance and admin queries
About you
You’ll be someone who enjoys making things work well behind the scenes and understands the value of strong systems in a people-centred organisation.
You might already be working in a finance or administration role or be looking to build your experience in the charity or arts sector. You’ll bring:
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confidence working with numbers, spreadsheets and finance systems
A calm, clear communication style
A collaborative approach and willingness to support others
An alignment with our values: People Focused, Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity, Ambition and Collaboration
Experience in a charity, arts or not-for-profit organisation is helpful but not essential.
Pay, pension and benefits
Salary: £28,080 per year
Pension: Employer contribution of 3%, with a minimum employee contribution of 5%
Holiday: 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays
Flexible, values-led working within a supportive small team
Why work with us?
The next 24 months are crucial to Barbican Theatre’s future. We are a lean team, and adaptability, trust and clarity really matter.
In return, we offer:
A supportive, collaborative working environment
The chance to contribute meaningfully to socially engaged creative work
