Barbican Theatre’s adults programme offers two weekly classes tailored to different levels of experience. ACTivate is ideal for adults who are new to drama or returning after a break—focusing on confidence, creativity, and connection in a relaxed environment. EXCELerate is designed for those with previous experience who want to refine their skills and work at a more advanced level.

In addition to weekly classes, we also offer specialist masterclasses throughout the year—one-off sessions led by industry professionals covering focused areas of theatre and performance.

ACTivate is a weekly drama session designed for adults who want to reconnect with their creativity, meet new people, and explore performance in a welcoming, no-pressure environment. No prior experience is needed—just an interest in trying something new.

Ideal for those returning to performance after a break, or simply looking for a creative hobby, ACTivate focuses on building confidence, communication skills, and group collaboration.

EXCELerate is a weekly training programme for adults with previous acting experience who are ready to develop their performance skills to a more advanced level. Whether you're returning to the stage or preparing for professional opportunities, EXCELerate provides structured, high-quality training in a focused, ensemble setting.

Participants will take part in a short introductory workshop to ensure the right fit for the group.
