The Merry Wives of Windsor

Women take the upper hand in Shakespeare’s comedy of English life. Sir John Falstaff is seeking two woo Mistresses Ford and Page for their rich husband’s money – but they are having none of it and turn the tables on him. Meanwhile Mistress Page’s daughter Anne is being courted by not one, but three suitors. Who will she choose? Will she even be allowed to choose.

The Tamaritans return to the Barbican after the success of Hangmen with this lesser known but no lesser brilliant comedy from the Bard. With a cast of 18 they plan to take you back to the time of Downton Abbey for a romp through English country life

The Merry Wives of Windsor is a Shakespearean comedy where two witty wives, Mistress Ford and Mistress Page, team up to humiliate the boastful, financially struggling knight Sir John Falstaff after he sends them identical love letters hoping to swindle their money. They orchestrate elaborate pranks, hiding him in laundry baskets, throwing him in the Thames, and eventually dressing him as the "Fat Woman of Brentford," all while his rival, Master Ford, spies on his wife, and Anne Page secretly marries her true love, Fenton, amidst her parents' mismatched suitors.
